Native Protestors Create Large Fire

Well, here I sit after spending hours vacating my home on Thistlemoor Drive.  Tonight we had Natives up to our property lines shining headlights and spot lights at the back of our homes, and throwing rocks, bolts, anything they can get their hands on at our backyard with lacrosse sticks.  We have had fire trucks here from bonfires they have set.  I was out tonight to come home and to have to turn around again to get my children safely elsewhere-as they are crying from fear.  There were residents who were hit by these flying objects.

I, and many others called 911, and the response time was deplorable.  We waited over an hour for OPP to show up, besides the 2 that were here.  For what did we call???  For them to stand around and have their arms crossed and not do a thing.
 
This is unfair and wrong on so many levels it's staggering.  We are innocent by-standers whose property and personal safety is in jeopardy.  My husband is now (2:43am) sitting on a stool in the dark with a baseball bat watching the Natives just beyond our backyard.  They aren't limited to just their vehicles, but they are on ATV'S and on foot.  I live in Canada, not the Middle East, and my husband shouldn't have to be doing this.  This is why we have police, to provide safety.  They certainly aren't doing a very good job.
 
 WE ARE TERRIFIED AND WE CAN'T LIVE THIS WAY ANY LONGER!  Where is the justice????   Our children start school in a month and their school backs directly on DCE, if I don't feel safe in my own home, how can I feel safe about sending my kids to school?

Just keeping everyone informed.  I am really at my breaking point.  Not that any of my elected officials (with the exception of Toby Barrett) cares!!!!!!!

Yesterday, in the Braemar/Thistlemoor area of Caledonia, the Natives set up a camp very close to the end of Braemar Avenue.  During the day I witnessed first hand that the Natives cut out a square in the middle of the Canadian flag, held it up to enrage the few local residents watching them as they were staking yet 3 more of their hideous flags, then they took the Canadian flag stepped on it, and rubbed it in the mud. 

Then, last night at around 10:30 pm, as I was lying in bed trying to fall asleep the phone rings.  It is a frantic neighbour telling me that Natives are outside, in the neighbourhood and in our backyards. When I got outside, I found only 4 castrated police officers, and about 70+ local residents.  An elderly man’s house (this poor guy is in his 90’s) was under siege.  Bright lights were being shone on his backyard and there was basically a standoff going down between residents trying to protect this neighbour and what appeared to be a group of Natives looking to stir up trouble.  Long story short, before long, the Natives started throwing rocks, bolts and whatever else they could get their hands on.  I only needed to hear one rock whiz by my head before I got out of there.  Local residents did start launching golf balls back into the field to protect themselves and the elderly man’s home.  Can you blame them?  One of my neighbours (a pregnant woman) got hit by a rock which ricoched off the ground. Another neighbour got hit in the side of the head.  The police witnessed the 2nd incident and once again did nothing.  No surprise, used to it by now!!

At one point Clyde Powless came to speak with the officers at the end of Braemar.  I asked him about the Cdn flag incident and he told me “honestly, it doesn’t bother me, similar things have been done to our flags”.  Their collective comeback is always that someone did it first (with no proof) so I guess that makes their actions okay.  4 Cdn Soldiers just came home from Afghanistan in a box but it doesn’t bother Clyde one little bit.

I am sick to death of this crap.  Your front line OPP officers are taking abuse like there is no tomorrow.  I can’t even look them in the eyes without getting angry.  Where is my government?  When do my tax dollars stop being wasted and start being used toward a proactive solution?  There should be no further talks period until they vacate this land.  Further, if they don’t vacate, the OPP, army, whoever should go in there and apply the law equally to all occupiers of Canadian soil...

My children are scheduled to return to Notre Dame School which borders this joke in 5 weeks.  Fix this problem now.  Please.  The Natives will not stop with the taunting and harassment until the government caves in and gives them everything they want.  There is a very dangerous precedent being set here.  Who is in control?  From my front porch it looks to me like the Natives are running the show and I am forced to sit and watch.  This is unfair, un-Canadian, and illegal. 

Is anyone listening?  Dalton, you there?  Diane, I voted for you twice, won’t make that mistake again!  Stephen Harper, how do you feel about Natives desecrating our flag and stomping on it?  When will everyone stop passing the buck?  To quote a movie (The Weatherman) – “The right thing to do and the hard thing to do are usually the same.”  Make some hard choices and do the right thing.  My patience is exhausted!
