Betsy Ross:
I have never heard such garbage from supposed reputable newspapers. These idiot newspaper people need to stop using OPP press releases as their basis for writing articles about events in Saturday.
The no go zone is a 100 foot strip of land starting on the west side of Argyle Street west to the railway tracks. At no time were Gary McHale or Mark Vandermaas anywhere near the no go zone and they had no intention of ever going there. In fact the natives were occupying the no go zone on Saturday which is a violation of their agreement with the OPP (not reported by the OPP). In fact I have video that shows that Gary McHale was arrested in a farmers field on the opposite side of Argyle Street and not even close to the occupied DCE site. I again have on tape that he said he was going no further.
The OPP did not force Mark Vandermaas down to the road. Mark Vandermaas sat on the road to demonstrate that the OPP would take the Canadian flag from him which they did. He did not resist their actions in any way.
The OPP again reported that Gary McHale stated he was there to support the troops. He said no such thing. I have on tape that he said, in response to a reporter, that two weeks previously a group had tried to put up flags and ribbons in support of the troops but he was there to demonstrate that the OPP would stop him from putting up a Canadian flag on the same pole as a Mohawk Warrior flag and not on the DCE site as the OPP reported but rather on the other side of Argyle street which is Haldimand County property.
The OPP reported that Gary McHale and Mark Vandermaas were in Caledonia to incite the residents to attack the OPP. I beg to differ as Caledonia residents like me in fact encouraged Gary McHale to come to Caledonia because he is high profile and would help us attract media attention. If we were to do the same thing alone nobody would pay attention.
