Good morning Mr. Prime Minister

Good morning Mr. Prime Minister,

I was reading the attached article on the web today Posted by Steve Janke of the Blogging Tories that the Mohawks are involved in online gambling big time. As you know the American Government is cracking down on online gambling and arrested individuals this week in the in the U.S. that are involved in this practice.

What I want to know is why we are funding Indian reserves in this country to the tune of $79.797 billion dollars over a ten year period so that they can turn around and invest in operations deemed illegal by our neighbors and I would suggest by our own governments.

“The Mohawks of Kahnawake own a 40-per-cent stake in a company called Continent 8 Technologies PLC that was supposed to have gone public today on the London Stock Exchange's junior AIM market Continent 8 has an exclusive agreement with Mohawk Internet Technologies in Kahnawake to offer its hosting services to owners of sites in the fast-growing $12-billion (U.S.) online gambling industry.”

The time has come to repeal the Indian Act, revise the Constitution and Charter of Rights to remove all special privileges for this group of people within Canada and integrate this group into the mainstream of Canadian society so that the laws of Canada can be effectively applied to them as they are applied to everyone else. The notion that Indian people have the right to self government within another country is ridiculous. We spend billions a year to support this notion while our health care system is in crisis.

It is expected that spending this year will exceed $11 Billion dollars in programs only.

I wonder how many people in this country know how our funding of reserves is supporting criminal activity of natives and I would suggest primarily Mohawks.

Even government representatives seem to support the native’s illegal activity

  1. But Canadian securities regulations make that a sticky proposition and Tobin said the postponement of the IPO will give more time for Kahnawake to figure out how to cut in individual band members.”
  2. “The Mohawks assert their jurisdiction over gambling but the provincial and federal governments maintain only the provinces and territories can operate gambling ventures. We're talking about $17.4 million in profit last year.
  3. The fight over this is going to make Caledonia look like a hissy fit. The Mohawk Warriors have a lot of money on the line. And this is not just money for the band -- every individual Mohawk stands to lose. The Kahnawake economic development commission's stake is held in an Isle of Man registered company. Grand Chief Michael Delisle said in May that an essential feature of an IPO would be an allotment for ordinary members of the community. But Canadian securities regulations make that a sticky proposition and Tobin said the postponement of the IPO will give more time for Kahnawake to figure out how to cut in individual band members.
  4. Now you tell a Mohawk Warrior that because of some provincial law or federal law, his cut of a $17.4 million annual windfall is at risk, and you guess what the reaction is likely to be.

Mr. Prime Minister it is time to put an end to this lawless group within our country before our country is reduced to a joke in the world by these criminals. I am calling on you to end special status for these people and put out a clear statement that all illegal activities including the occupation in Caledonia (regardless of the spin the Province is trying to put on this activity) is brought to an end and the criminals brought to justice.

I’m not sure you have heard Jane Stewart, negotiator in the Six Nations land claims process, speaking to a resident in Caledonia but she has stated:

Ontario owns the land. We are the purchaser of the land. The deed is good. Ontario will stand behind its deed process, its deed system, its title system, its land management system. And if there is proven to be a claim, that monies were not paid, or that the land indeed was not surrendered for sale but for lease or whatever if that is proven that that’s true. When land claims are settled if they had a claim on your land your land wouldn’t go back to them. Canada would negotiate a settlement and the settlement is usually money or it may be Crown Lands. Your deed is not at risk and when people come if Six Nations come and say it is our land and you got to get out cause its our land your deed is good and your lands are not in our process at risk We will go through the process and see if there is who’s right whose right in a principled process based in law. We will probably end up getting a third party but its lawyers and they happen all the time these claims are being settled not just problem is we haven’t dealt with the ones at Six Nations but there are lands claims across Canada that are settled”

Based on her comments above, the deed held by the Hennings on the Douglas Creek Estates land in Caledonia was valid from the start and the occupation should have never been allowed to occur. Caledonia has lost a housing development on land that was always legally held by the developer. The County has lost a significant portion of its tax base. The town has lost its ability to attract new home buyers. Businesses in Caledonia have lost significant business due to this occupation.

Why? Your government and the Provincial government have allowed Caledonia to be collateral damage in your process of negotiation with Six Nations.

What is the Federal Government going to do to correct these situations?

Give Douglas Creek Estates back to Haldimand County so we can move on with development in this County, remove the occupiers, and end funding to a people that have demonstrated clear disregard for Canadian Law.
