Post March for Freedom Emails
Oct. 17, 2006 |
| Again, we would like to thank you for what you did for our community. Thanks for giving the little guy (and gal) a voice to be heard. We thought, Anne Marie's speech stole the show. We wish she were running for Mayor! Even though Mayor Marie Trainer will probably lose the election the alternative ie: Lorraine Bergstrand will probably be no better. She has not said a word about the situation in Caledonia as far as we know.
Today in the Spectator, there is a distasteful cartoon caricature of yourself standing at a hotdog cart with fellow marchers in the background dressed like hunters carrying a pitch fork and flying the southern US rebel flag. What a disgrace, talk about childish school yard bully and poor loser tactics! Kalenitha Horn must be the new editor of the newspaper.
My husband and I attended the rally and very much enjoyed listening to what the speakers had to say (still our democratic right?). We are not sure where we go from here but we have a feeling it is going to be a long winter. Anyway, thanks again, you have extremely large cojones and you have our utmost respect and admiration for the large personal sacrifices that your wife and yourself must have made to make this happen.

| Hi Gary.
Having decided to come out on Sunday and see what the rally was all about and having marched at the front of the line with you to see such things as the refusal of the roses and the OPP deny us access to the street with the US flags, I think the rally and the march were a great success and I want to say congratulations! Your points were unquestionably proven even if the media wishes to try to spin it against us now.
Many of us who did break away from the march at the school did not do so to try to get violent. I did it to try to simply get a look at what was going on behind the school on DCE.
Several of us made it to the street behind the school only to be told by the OPP that we would be arrested if we set foot off of the curb and onto a public street. They refused to explain to us what the charge would be. We were a good 200' from DCE. So much for the 100 foot no go zone. He told us to " Call Dalton McGuinty if you want to know what the charge will be " The same cop told me he was "not going to answer that question" when asked if a native would be arrested for doing the same. I took a look at the barrier set up on Argyle street to protect the criminals and decided to go home.
One crucial bit of information I have not seen anywhere via your website or any other is something that occured this spring after they had established illegal control of DCE. A small group of natives set up near the casino in Brantford and stopped traffic to give people flyers explaining that the land the casino is built on and more around it is also "owned by the natives". A friend of mine works at the casino and was stopped several times by them to be given this information.
I have not seen her in months but I will talk to her and see what else I can find out about it if you're interested. The point being that if they succeed in Caledonia and are given that land after all of this, they have already staked out their next target.
Keep up the good fight Gary!

| Hello Dalton;
I just heard you speaking to Roy Green.....I have to write to you with my take on your discussion with him. I was at the rally on Sunday....it was a lovely day with 1500 citizens present. We were just standing around waiting for speeches, when all of a sudden pickup trucks with natives and warrior flags flapping in the wind blasted through the parking lot. The vehicles drove at high speeds and the occupants sat in the pickup back boxes shouting obscenities. The OPP....the wonderful police force that you have so much faith in....stood by and watched.
Now....let me ask you....given this same scenario, if I (being a white person) were to drive recklessly through a crowd, and there were police stationed within a stones throw of where I was driving, would the OPP stop me and charge me with numerous counts of recklessness and illegal activity? I know the answer to this question, and I think you know the answer as well. I would have been stopped very quickly and the OPP would have had me charged.
So.....don't get on the radio and pontificate about how wonderfully this police force is handling things in our town. You still don't get it do you? Let me spell it out for you a little more clearly.....our town has been taken over by thugs, and the police stand by and watch us being trampled. That is the truth. I will continue to reveal the truth of what is happening in our town at every opportunity. |
|
Hi People, Just wanted to thank you for doing the March...must have taken a lot of courage on your part to do this against all odds.Didn't get 20,000 people but I never expected that to happen as we "non-natives" don't stand together on anything...so sad....but the front page of Toronto Sun and all the tv coverage I think mission accomplished!...keep up the good work! |
| Dear Gary and Christine: Thank you so much for rallying our town against our oppressors and our impossible situation. You are absolutely right in your convictions and Gary's and Toby Barrett's speeches added more legitimacy to our cause. You are to be commended for your efforts, we very much appreciate the effort you have put into your website and your March for Freedom. Christine, it took a lot of intestinal fortitude to look those Natives in the eye and call a spade, a spade. Reading that letter that called a Warrior, a coward. Bravo!! (they seemed a little subdued at the March rally compared to their behaviour in Brantford). I gave generously to your donation pail and I will sign up for Paypal once you explain why my account will be billed every month. I only want to donate money when I feel like it, not as a monthly commitment. As you can imagine, this is an alias. Please don't print any names. This is a small town. The politics are unbelievable. The intimidation by Natives is unfortunately also a deterrant to our free speech. Here's what I've been emailing my friends about the aftermath of the March. The media isn't interested in why you held the March, they only turn out hoping to get a shot of an arrest or a fist-fight. No-one seemed to notice the career bikers giving support to the Natives. (Did they bring pot-luck?) |
|
I was at the Rally and just wanted to say Thank-you! You did an awsome job and it was very peacefull. As for the Media they screwed up again. They of course played down how many people were there and focused on someone being arrested. Great Job! |
| If people have the plate numbers for the vehicles that sped through town with the natives in the back of the trucks waving flags and shouting they should be informing the OPP that charges should be laid under the Highway traffic Act. I don't think it is legal to carry passengers in an open pick up truck.
Of course the better question is why did not the OPP stop them and charge them at the time? We know the answer.
Does their attempt to incite those of us at the rally and march pass for "peaceful".

| Dear Gary. Thanks for the efforts and excellent information sharing. The Ipperwash resident hit home as Thistlemoor faces the same future. The news will not show what the rally was all about, they don't care. Canadians don't care. No one wants to be the one to challenge the Native movement in this country. We have too many residents sympathizing with the natives and they get the media full force. The media is very anti Canadian |
| Hey Gary,
I must say, today has changed history books forever. You and your wife have taken a stand to help fellow Canadians who you didnt know untill now. In my eyes and in the eyes of those who know my family and I say thank you! Thank you for all you have done to bring the people responsable to the table.
I am only one person in Caledonia, but today really makes me feel that change is possible, you brought the media here like never before and showed the O.P.P. and Governments that we are serious and peaceful for the most part. I only wish people could have just came back to the site of the rally other than close to the DCE.
Once again, I thank you for what you and yours have done.
Hope we chat soon.

Gary: Congratulations for a job well done. I was impressed with all the speakers and I suspect everyone was behind you 100%. It was difficult not to relate to the stories being told. I cheered, I clapped, my hands are still sore. Talk with you later… |
| Gary and Christine;
Just want to thank you and say Kudos for a job well done today. You put together a fabulous march and the speeches were truly outstanding. Please continue to stand by us.....we need you to keep helping us.....we cannot do it alone.
Thanks again for putting so much of yourselves into our community and its problems.
|
| Anne Marie;
Your speech was moving and emotional.....it was the best part of the whole rally. I am so glad you agreed to speak, since the rally needed the insight and passion of a citizen such as yourself, living day in and day out in the midst of a hell that the government and OPP are allowing to continue. I, for one, will continue to let everyone and anyone know how we have been let down in this community by the people who are supposed to protect and serve all of us......the OPP and the politicians.
Yours in friendship....

,
Thanks for a great rally. The speeches went well and it was great to see so many people turn out. After a week of intimidation by Dalton McGuinty, David Ramsey, Marie Trainer and the OPP, it was a wonder that anyone came out. Marie Trainer likened the warriors to a sleeping bear and did everything she could to spread the fear and keep people away.
The only criticism that I heard about the rally was from an older man that said you should have had a bull horn while walking and that you should have announced an exit strategy in advance.
All in all, I think things went well. I sincerely hope that this is the beginning of a movement to hold government and leaders accountable for their actions and inactions. If anyone has a conscience, he or she cannot sit by and ignore the injustice that is taking place in Caledonia, Haldimand County and Ipperwash.
Best regards, - Take a break you two - you deserve it.

| Dear Gary and Christine:
My husband and I were both at the walk today and are so pleased everything went peaceful. You both have done such a wonderful job and today's speakers were excellent. I hear that a non native was charged trying to take down one of the native flags, I don't understand how the natives can come and disrupt our get togethers and if you go near them at all we will be charged. What in God's name has happened to this world. Anyways thanks again.

Hi Gary and Christine, The Rally went very well. The speakers made excellent points regarding the two tiered justice in Again the two tier justice creature shows its ugly head when the marchers confronted the police near the occupation site. Natives were allowed by the police to freely walk to Tim Horton’s for coffee but marchers couldn’t go near the occupation site. Double standards like this have been in place since the beginning of the occupation. Your words and the words of your guest speakers made this abundantly clear to the media today. Congratulations on a successful Rally and March that proved all officials wrong about the occupation, about the rule of law and about the Rally itself. Good luck in your future endeavors and keep CaledoniaWakeupCall alive. |
| Gary and Christine,
Thank you so much for your efforts today. Hopefully, the message will get out. The people of Ontario need to know that this is not just "our" problem....every tax payer in this province is paying for Caledonia. Thank you,
|
| Having lived in both Ontario and British Columbia, my husband and I have seen with our own eyes the double standards used by law enforcement agencies and various levels of government in their treatment of First Nations. We have been fed up for years and didn't realize there were so many others who felt the same.
Everyone knows what the consequences would have been if any other Canadian citizen had performed similar criminal acts!!! The Government in our country is not only condoning criminal acts performed by First Nations, but are essentially encouraging such acts by not allowing justice to follow its course!
Even here in BC, we know firearms have been discharged by First Nations individuals from vessels in the waters around our Province, and Fisheries personnel have done nothing at all in response. This is only one example of what must be thousands of incidents that are continually overlooked, as other Canadians abide by the laws created to keep our country safe for all.
We're fed up too, and we are with you in your efforts, even if not physically! Thank you for speaking up for Canadians and doing what so many have been afraid to do. Our best to you!
Kind Regards,
|

Hey there I am a Dundas resident and I just wanted to tell you folks that I think that you are fighting the good fight and that there are people outside of Caledonia who don't believe in this 2 tier justice bullshit. You Caledonia residents have been holding your own without help from the police who are unwilling to enforce the law and politicians who are spineless. When will they see that just because a group claims special privileges, doesnt mean that they are entitled to them? Equality under the law? Rule of law? I see no equality in Caledonia nor do I see anything that remotely resembles rule of law. You folks are forced to live in anarchy and the government needs to put an end to it!!!! I have unfortunately been unable to attend any of your get-togethers, but I just wanted to let you know that there are people outside of Caledonia who turn on the TV and see that you people are in a living hell that is caused by the natives. Anyways, good luck and I hope that all goes well and that justice is finally done to these criminals who claim special rights!!! |

Gary, I am a resident of Caledoia, and live on Braemar Ave. I have written to you before. My husband, son and myself were in attendance of the March for Freedom, rally and march. I thank you for organizing this event. My family and I feel it was a successful rally in getting the message out, as you know it drew a lot of media attention, even though some still misinterpreted the truth.(DID WE REALLY EXPECT ANY THING DIFFERENT, from OUR LOCAL PAPER AND NEWS STATION (CHCH TV AND THE SPECTATOR). I was disgusted on the coverage The Spectator posted, a bunch of B.S., as always and the picture today, do you notice that the Caledonia's are all men, and look like rednecks. CHCH down played the significance of the rally, and again made the Indians, look like the poor little Indians that they are. The speeches blew me away. Ann Marie VanSickle brought tears to my eyes. AnnMarie captured in her speech everything that we experience within ThistleMoore Estates and as residents of Caledonia from the beginning of the occupation until now. NY Crimewatch, and MaryLou LaPratte's speeches put a chill down my spine, as they pointed out within their speeches the terrorist acts, the injustice of the two tier policing that Ipperwash and Caledonia faces, the insight on the "WARRIORS", and their crimes, against not only non-natives but also their own people, this scares us the most. If they can do all those criminal acts against their own, we don't have a hope in hell with the present policing, I believe they are more slicker, cunning and organized than the OPP believe, maybe Fantino can get a better handle on it, I sincerely do not believe so. Anyway, I wanted to let you know what blew me away this morning when I drove to work, I go from Braemar Ave to Argyle South out to Highway 6 south. This morning I was stunned to see the NEW building that was erected sometime between Friday night Oct.13 and Tuesday morning when I drove by. I know for a fact it was not there before. It is directly on Argyle Street at the so called front enterance to the DCE. I thought we had a moratorium (or has that been slid under the table also) on this land. Has anyone complained? Also the warrior and six nations flags are now flying across the street from DCE land on utility poles. What's with that? I will phone Marie Trainer's office and complain. You and Christine are doing a bang up job, thanks for YOUR SUPPORT, if our own politicians and OPP would give us so much, we would not be in this mess. Caledonia Citizen |
| Hi Gary, Christine
I know you are both very busy right now so I will keep this short.
I live in Hamilton, just a 20 minute drive from DCE. I'm not an activist type of person and the very first protest rally I have ever attended was in Caledonia on Oct. 15. I have followed this story from the beginning and am completely frustrated and angered by what I see happening. I think the freedom march was a good start, but we need to be more persistant. I would specifically suggest you attempt to get together a group of local people who can go to the site several times per week, I would personally be willing to join in. I do not have a lot of free time as I work full time and have family, etc, but would like to devote some time to this cause.
I can make phone calls, send emails, write letters and anything else that might help. I would also like to attempt to get some pictures of the so-called 100ft no-go zone being broken, please explain the boundaries to me or provide a map.
I want to thank you for your efforts on behalf of all Canadians who do not have the time and resources to take this on. It amazes me how uninformed and ignorant people are about this. Just today one of my co-workers suggested you, Gary, should go back to Toronto and mind your own business. I quickly explained to them, this is not about just Caledonia, this is a local, provincial, and national problem and if we do not put a stop to this now, we will all have our properties and rights taken from us. I then went into detail to help backup my point, which I believe, my co-worker understood.
Please get back to me, I want to do my part.

| Dear Gary and Christine,
I am incensed at the comments of Dalton McGuinty on the Roy Green show this morning. He has blatantly admitted that nothing is being done about the status of the Ipperwash Provincial Park due to the tactics of the previous government. Excuse ME. Hasn't McGuinty been in power for three years now. What is he waiting for?? Mike Harris to get back in and end it himself?? This is the most ridiculous comment I have ever heard from a Politician never mind the head guy on the watch. Be very careful with the next guy you vote in Caledonia. I hope if he/she is not a Liberal , the excuse for no action in Caledonia will not be we aren't cleaning up a mess McGuinty caused. Why is IPPERWASH not worthy of the same degree of committment as DCE???? I mean negotiations. We all know the policing issue is identical. Ipperwash set the present protocol for the OPP.
Sincerely, Mary-Lou
