After watching the video:Natives now building Military Bunkers, I was so perturbed by this video that I decided to go directly to the OPP that are manning the Braemar Ave Court end of street and get an explanation of this occurrence. I am a resident of
When I got there, (I drove, as I came directly from work) at approx. 6pm 09/20/06, I had told the male officer that I had just watched a very disturbing video on the caledoniawakeupcall website. He (and did I expect anything more) did not seem too concerned. I told him that I wanted to make an incident report about the situation. The officer then spoke with his partner(female) and came to the conclusion, that another complaint was already reported.
I told the officer then there must be an incident number and I wanted the number. He tried to back peddle out of this, and I was insistent that I wanted to know exactly what this construction was, and if he could not tell me then I wanted someone who could. He then proceeded to tell me that they think, are you ready for this, this is a deer hole. (to catch deer - PLEASE ENOUGH OF THE INSULTING of OUR INTELLIGENCE)
I did tell him that you really want me to believe that. I kept insisting on an incident number, or if they could not provide one, then I wanted to speak to someone in charge who could provide more information. He then told me to go sit in my van until he could find something. I refused and stood near the OPP vehicle, after a few moments he did not seem to be doing anything, and I asked him again for the incident number, when he finally admitted that there was not one.
I then told him that I wanted one created and if he was not able to then send down someone who could, if not I told him that I would go onto the site myself and take a look. I then proceed to talk with xxxx, and he indicated that it was reported, but could not get an incident number.
Within about 10 minutes a Sergeant Frank Kreisz showed up. (I got his card, and this is his title: Staff Sergeant - First Nations & Contract Policing Bureau - Ontario Provincial Police) Immediately the Sergeant started to inquire what the problem was, I explained to him about viewing the video and how disturbing I found this to be and I wanted to know what the contraption was, and why they are being allowed to do any type of building when the moratorium was put on the land, he did not seem to know anything about this moratorium, (or I believe he did not even know what one was).
He knew nothing about your (CaledoniaWakeUpCall) website, knew nothing about this being reported, and then came to the conclusion that it was some type of platform. I told him he must have excellent vision as to come to this conclusion from over 1,000 feet away. I told him I don't buy the story and I want a better answer. I told him why doesn't he and his men go over to see exactly what it is as there was now a complaint in progress. He told me he could not do that. I asked him if he was afraid and I would join him, because at that particular time I can honestly say I was not, I was so upset and was tired and f....ken fed up with the Native bull, and their's, and told him so.
He told me to watch my language. (I was flabbergasted when he said this, more concerned about some cussing then what is going on DCE) I then told him maybe I would go onto the site myself and take a look see, and he strongly advised me not to do that. I was persistent and said I just might and started to walk backwards a little, he then indicated that if I did step on the DCE land that he would arrest me for disturbing the peace.
WHAT, this is provincial land, I do not see any no trespassing signs, the natives are there, just maybe I will be too. He continued to advise me not to do that. I asked him if he would protect me if anything happened if I walked onto the site. He would not answer that, so I asked him what the OPP are doing here if they could not protect me and uphold the law. The Sergeant indicated he was there to keep the peace and he would not risk himself, his officers' and my safety by allowing me to go on the land.
I did tell them that they chose their profession and that comes with the territory. I find this scary, if they (OPP) are afraid to go onto DCE, AND we had to fight to get a fence for Notre Dame School, because you know the natives are not to be feared. The sergeant kept trying to ensure me that they (OPP) would look into the complaint, and then proceeded to tell me that they have also been video taping the happening's of this dig.
What, now they are contradicting what they stated before, that they knew nothing about this, and now they claim the OPP are videoing this. I told him I wanted an incident number and he did finally give me one. It is LP06207262 which the sergeant wrote on the back of his card.
He told me that he would be in touch with me tomorrow with more information. xxxx and I did get the badge numbers from the other 3 officers that were there, but the female officer refused to give her's, until xxxx informed her about what the MELT team had indicated, that it was required. Reluctantly she gave me her's after mumbling it to me and I had to ask her for it again. Badge numbers 5922, 7170, 11343.
